OUR purpose and vision

Every Church is Driven by Something.

Our Purpose.

Traditon, finances, programs, personalites, events, seekers, and even buildings can each be a controling force in a church.  But for a church to be healthy it must be a purpose-driven, Christ-following, Bible teaching church built around the five New Testament purposes given by Jesus Christ.  These five purposes are worship, evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry and are found in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.  At the Dalhart Church of the Nazarene we work to balance these five purposes to create a place where our members grow warmer through fellowship, and broader through ministry.  We belive that as our members grow in these areas our community will grow through personal evangelism.  We warmly invite you to become part of this loving growing community.

  • To love the Lord our God with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength and love our neighbors as ourselves.
  • To see men and women, boys and girls, in all nations, come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • To expose Dalhart church members to the work of Christ through evangelism, outreach within our neighborhoods, cross-culturally in local compassionate ministry settings, and on mission teams throughout the US, Mexico and beyond.
  • To be a place where the hurting, the hopless, the discrouraged, the depressed, the frustrated and the confused can find love, acceptance, guidance and encouragement.

Our vision.

Our vision is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the residents of the Dalhart area.  We dream of 500 growing and maturing members.  Growing both spiritually and in fellowship through Bible studies, seminars, retreats and fellowship: loving, laughing and learning together, understanding God's wonderful plan and living life to its greatest potential.  All of this is designed to minister to the total person; emotionally, socially, and most importantly spiritually!

OUR staff

Pastor Rick & Julie Calvert

Pastor Rick was called into the ministry late in life at age 45. Rick and Julie have pastored at Dalhart since July 2008. God has used them to start several community outreach programs such as a Food Pantry through the High Plains Food Bank, Overcomer's Recovery Support Group, and others. The Lord also lead them to start a Spanish Church which meets on Sundays @ 3:00 pm and a service for non-church people that meets Saturday @ 6:00 pm. Julie has a special gift for children. She is able to teach them and get them excited about the Lord. She reads the children's mission books and tells Bible stories each week at the local daycare. Rick and Julie have said that the Lord gave them both a pastorate and a mission field in Dalhart.

Gale & Mary Kimerer

Gale has been the Music Director for over 25 years. He sang in a Southern Gospel Quartet, The Master's Men, before moving to Dalhart. Gale also plays several instruments including the Base and Trumpet. Mary plays the piano and keyboard. They bless the congregation each week with anointed music. The Praise Team under Gale's direction is a blessing for the church.

Rev. Glendon & Edna Pyle

Glen & Edna come to us from the Wesleyan Church. They have taken over the Senior Adult Ministries (SAMS) as well as the Nursing Home and Assisted Living Ministries. Glen is always available to do God’s work. Edna is in the Praise Team and prepares the elements for Communion.
